DIY Cannabis Simple Syrup

A necessary component for making nearly all THC-infused concoctions. Once on hand, you can use your own homemade cannabis simple syrup to spruce up all kinds of libations and make potables even more potent.

Whether you choose to spike your morning beverage, stir into citrus juices, mix with shrubs, and/or build cannabis cocktails, this versatile medicated sweetener belongs in the home of any deserving Chron Vivant.

Easy Decarboxylation (Oven Method)

In order to infuse spirits or oils with activated THC, we first need transform the non-psychoactive THCA found in raw cannabis into medicated THC, via a chemical process called decarboxylation.

Don’t panic, this is just a fancy way of saying ‘heat up the bud’ and you can easily do this at home using your trusty oven in two easy steps.

Definition: Decarbing means removing the “A” molecule (Acid), from the THCA and CBDA. This happens when releasing the “A” carbon atom from “A” carbon chain, resulting in THC and CBD. The only way to achieve this is with heat and time.

Directions:

Step 1: Grind Your Bud

Grind and spread out your cannabis evenly on a medium-large baking sheet.

Step 2: Bake (Slow & Low)

Place the baking sheet with ground up cannabis in a pre-heated oven at 235-240 F for for 40-45 minutes (be careful not to exceed these temperatures as you can easily damage the THC).

And there you have it. Your herb has now been activated and is ready to be infused. Keep in mind, you can always skip this step and infuse with raw cannabis if you are looking to extract essential oils without any of the psychoactive properties.
